Arkose Labs' Q2 2020 Fraud and Abuse Report revealed that 26.5% of all transactions in Q1 2020 were fraud and abuse attempts, representing a 20% quarter-over-quarter increase and the company's highest recorded attack rate to date. The U.S. led as the top source of cyberattacks, while the UK, Germany and Canada also saw sharp increases — a shift attributed to COVID-19 disrupting face-to-face commerce and driving consumers online in large numbers. Human-driven sweatshop attacks declined during the period as early lockdowns constrained fraud operations in key attack-originating regions.
