Expert cybercriminals can earn as much as £6 million a year — more than 3 times the 2020 average salary of a FTSE 100 CEO — while even rookie fraudsters take home approximately £15,000 a month, according to Arkose Labs data. The company estimates that if the global fraud industry were a country, it would rank as the world's third-largest economy. Arkose Labs argues the only effective way to counter such profitable criminal enterprises is to raise the cost and effort of attacks to the point where the return on investment collapses.
