Brooklyn mother says she lost over $10,000 to fraudster posing as bank representative

CBS News New York cited Arkose Labs CEO Kevin Gosschalk in a report on a Brooklyn mother who lost more than $10,000 after a scammer spoofed Chase's caller ID and impersonated a fraud prevention officer. Gosschalk noted that the FBI's 2024 Internet Crime Report shows Americans lost more than $16 billion to fraud — a 33% increase over 2023 — driven in part by scammers' growing access to personal data from breaches and their use of AI to conceal accents and automate convincing interactions.
