How Criminals are Manipulating AI to Target Dating Apps

Scripps News cited Arkose Labs data showing a more than 2,000% surge in attacks on dating apps in January 2024 compared to the same period in 2023 — spikes that CEO Kevin Gosschalk says tend to peak around Valentine's Day, Christmas and New Year's. Gosschalk told the outlet that AI now lets scammers auto-generate highly personalized messages and even carry on conversations with victims, making fraudulent profiles far harder to detect.
