Arkose Labs' Q1 2020 Fraud and Abuse Report revealed a 90% spike in human-driven fraud attacks in Q4 2019 compared to the prior six months, driven by the rise of low-cost sweatshop operations that supplement automated bots. The report, based on analysis of more than 1.3 billion transactions across financial services, ecommerce, travel, social media, gaming and entertainment, also found that automated attacks grew 25% as fraudsters became more effective at mimicking legitimate user behavior. Gaming and social media platforms saw the sharpest attack spikes during the period.
