State of internet crime in Q1 2022: Bot traffic on the rise, and more

Arkose Labs' Q2 2022 State of Fraud and Account Security report found that 1 in 4 online accounts created in Q1 2022 were fake and used for fraud, as criminals increasingly blended bot automation with human fraud farm workers for more sophisticated attacks. The Register notes Arkose Labs' finding that credential stuffing and fake account creation remained heavily bot-driven while human involvement in certain attack types grew. The data points to an expanding and increasingly professionalized fraud economy in the first quarter of the year.
