CFO Leadership profiled Arkose Labs CFO Frank Teruel on why finance teams are often the first to detect cyberattacks — citing a case in which a ride-share company's CFO spotted an SMS toll fraud campaign through an unexplained spike in messaging charges before the security team caught it. Teruel, who also teaches in Santa Clara University's MBA program, argued that effective CFOs must treat financial anomalies as flashing red warning lights for attacks and collaborate with the C-suite on cyber resilience.
