Arkose Labs CEO Kevin Gosschalk advised security leaders to start by eliminating easily solved vulnerabilities — using bug bounty programs to surface low-hanging fruit — before investing in new tools. He argued the primary goal should be to move the attack surface as far to the perimeter as possible, making it more expensive for attackers to target an organization. Gosschalk emphasized that raising the cost of attacks through layered defenses is a more sustainable fraud deterrence strategy than reactive mitigation after the fact.
