Research from Arkose Labs analyzing more than 1.2 billion social media interactions found that 53% of all logins were fraudulent and 25% of new accounts were fake, illustrating why social platforms have become prime territory for scammers. The data spans logins, account registrations and payments across multiple industries, revealing how the sheer scale and lax security practices of social media users make them easy targets for phishing and account abuse. The findings highlight the difficulty individuals and brands face in defending themselves against attacks on platforms designed for open, frictionless interaction.
