Kevin Gosschalk, 33, has built Arkose Labs into a global fraud deterrence company — attracting clients such as Microsoft and PayPal and backers who have poured in $180 million — and earned a spot on the AFR Young Rich List with an estimated wealth of $137 million, fueled by 1,480% revenue growth in 2021-22. To gain an adversarial edge, Gosschalk created the role of Chief Criminal Officer and hired Brett Johnson, dubbed 'the original internet Godfather' by the U.S. Secret Service, to help clients understand how cybercriminals think and operate. Gosschalk's philosophy is that the only way to beat cybercriminals is to make attacks economically futile — raising the cost and complexity until fraudsters abandon the effort entirely.
